Cry havoc
and let slip the dogs of war?
Men at some time are masters of their fates.
The fault, dear Brutus, is not in our stars
But in ourselves, that we are underlings.
Julius Caesar Act I Scene II
We are entering an eclipse season like no other, honest! March has been teed up by every astrologer out there as a wild ride, starting with the lunar eclipse in Virgo this Friday 14th, a day before the inauspicious ‘Ides of March’.
But why? What is going on?
There are several concurrent cosmic storylines, some wrapping up and new ones about to start.
Neptune is finishing up its murky channel crossing in Pisces and about to crawl, wobbly-legged onto the shores of Aries at the end of the month. This isn’t the last time it will do this, but it’s our first look at how those two marathon transits start and finish.
We also have two eclipses, on the 14th and 29th of March, and sandwiched in between those, an unsavoury alignment serving as a throwback to 13th of July 2024, the Spring Equinox, oh and a possible end to the Kali Yuga! So, I hope you’ve not made plans! ;p
Now let it work. Mischief, thou art afoot. Take thou what course thou wilt.
Julius Caesar Act III, Scene II
Nearly every astrologer I’m aware of is reminding us to ‘beware the Ides of March’ – the day Julius Caesar met his sticky end, and forecasting some trouble ahoy for the closest thing we have to a Caesar figure these days (no, not rizz-free Keir Starmer, lol) it is of course, President Donald Trump. This year the 15th March comes steaming in hot on the heels of our first lunar ‘Blood Moon’ eclipse in Virgo.
At the time of the eclipse, the Sun will have just burned up Saturn in a blistering cazimi, and along with the Moon at the opposite degree, will square President Trump’s natal Sun and Moon (yes he was born on a total lunar eclipse!) thus forming a grand mutable cross.
Grand crosses signify a dynamic tension and crunch point, as if events are pulling us to each of the four corners. Of course, these can lead to great things and important breakthroughs, and the mutability here suggests flexibility and adaptability in a time of crisis. But there’s no getting away from the fact that it’s a key moment in his life and career, and one which could open up multiple timelines of possibilities.
An if not for Trump, this is a crunch point for astrology.
Clearly enough time has passed since the astrological debacle over the US election, and the raging debate (on this Substack at any rate) about whether predictions are possible, advisable, and not even the point of modern astrology! Unencumbered from the previous stink of failure (JK!) many astro-nerds are are now rallying in confidence as we head towards Equinox and the sap starts to rise. And plenty are sticking their necks out once again to warn us of dramatic events with profound consequences.
(N.B. It’s worth noting here that talking about these predictions is not meant in any way to wish them into fruition. But the planetary alignments are striking enough for those of us interested in astrology to use this as an important example of how accurate predictive forecasting can be.)
Lori Lothian, one of the few who correctly predicted both the first Trump assassination attempt on 13th July 2024 in Butler Pennsylvania, and the outcome of the election, believes we might see a redux of the cosmological ingredients that were served up in 2024.
Back in July, Uranus conjoined Trump’s midheaven, angry malefic Mars, and (the Demon Star) Algol and were it not for the presence of the asteroid Angel in his First House (and him turning his head to look at, of all things, a graph!) the story would have been very different.
Lothian points out that as in July last year, Uranus the planet of shock, surprise, and revolution is now back on the President’s Midheaven, around the midpoint of these two eclipses, around the 22nd March. As well as representing career and reputation the Midheaven is an angle representing the vertical axis of creation, and sometimes the sun-roof exit point, so to speak.
Although this time Mars is approaching a square rather than joining the unholy alliance on the Midheaven, and Algol is a few degrees further away from Uranus, Lothian explains how the recent 12th February Leo Full moon will have activated the President’s first house / ascendant (self, ego, identity), and the current melee in Pisces is kicking off in his eighth house of death and transformation.
Mundane astrologer Lotta Stenbacker also looked at the whole Trump family’s charts for this 22nd March date, and observed that they all seem to be in for a bit of a shocker.
You can read the details, of Donald Sr, his wife and children here but Lotta’s conclusion is, this alignment indicates a ‘shock to the family system’ which she predicts will likely be another assassination attempt, the 25th amendment being invoked, and possibly large-scale public unrest.
Another Substack astrologer, The Cunning Farmer gives a highly detailed analysis of the March eclipse season and points out that the eclipse and its nodal axis also aligns with the MC (Midheaven) / IC (Immum Coeli) axis in the natal chart of the United States.
This MC/IC line literally divides the chart into two hemispheres and points to the polarities of home / domestic life vs. public image or reputation on the world stage.
Anyone who follows a lot of astrology content is probably a little enured to the constant hype machine, but it seems that this month’s events will be no-nothing burger.
And speaking of know-nothings (which really was the name of an American political party back in the 1850’s - one of astrology’s absolute Know-Everythings, Leo King David Palmer is still bringing the receipts on the eerie similarities between now and 1861, the start of Abraham Lincoln’s presidency, and the American Civil War.
As with his post-election victory lap (he was one of the minority who correctly predicted the outcome) this is a long livestream in which he consistently points to uncanny echoes in the planetary alignments and the politics. If you like history, mundane astrology, with some swearing, ranting, and vaping (and who doesn’t?!) Then this is the video for you. (The Lincoln stuff is at about 76 mins in.)
The strangest coincidence (and remember – there are no coincidences!) is that years ago Palmer foresaw a civil war-like split happening, heralded by a Democrat ‘raising a cane’ in Congress. This was inspired by an iconic image from a few years before the Civil War during the so-called Southern Chivalry argument.
Last week when cane-wielding Representative Al Green was ejected from Congress during President Trump’s address, it felt to Palmer, like another portentous ripple in time from the pre-Civil War era.
Neptune was also nearing the end of Pisces then, and although for me the evolution of our sense of spirituality is the strongest parallel of both transits, (more on that next time) some of the political correlations are striking.
Eclipses always signalled the birth and death of kings and emperors, and Palmer makes a forensic case for aligning this Trump presidency with that of Lincoln. He stops short of speculating whether the similarities will sync up all the way to their final act.
When beggars die there are no comets seen:
The heavens themselves blaze forth the death of princes.
Julius Caesar (Act II, Scene II)
Have you tried turning it on and off again?
In between the eclipses, we have the Spring Equinox where we get a fresh, new start at zero degrees Aries – always the annual reset for the astrological calendar.
Yet this year we might well be in for an even more profound ‘do over’ as Bibhu dev Misra predicts an end to a 13,000 year cycle and the end of the Kali Yuga.
The next few weeks will be a heady mix of big planets shifting signs, doors closing and opening, but how will it affect you?
If you’ve read my previous article on the Nodes moving into Pisces / Virgo you might have checked where this axis falls in your chart, and the two key areas that will experience change and transformation in the coming 18 months.
First House: self, physical body, appearance
Second House: value, money, self-worth, possessions
Third House: communication, early schooling, siblings
Fourth House: home, family, ancestral patterns
Fifth House: romance, play, creativity
Sixth House: daily routines, work, health
Seventh House: committed partnerships
Eighth House: merging, intimacy, death, transformation
Ninth House: higher learning, spirituality, media relations
Tenth House: career, public status, legacy
Eleventh House: friendships, hopes and dreams, community
Twelfth House: endings, spirituality
The 14th March lunar eclipse is happening at 22 degress of Virgo, and the 29th March partial solar eclipse happens at around 9 degrees of Aries, so check these areas of your chart and the house they fall in. If you have any planets within three degrees either side, directly opposite, or forming a square – this could be an interesting few weeks to say the least!
Remember full moons and lunar south node eclipses involve a culmination, and sometimes an ending or release. The new moon solar eclipse following two weeks later, heralds the seed of something new coming in its place.
And as always advice on eclipses in general, don’t do anything crazy. Relax, go with the flow, and as Susan Miller always used to say, just see ‘what flies in through the window.’ I appreciate that it’s hard to relax when you’re anticipating anything flying in through the window…but you catch my drift.
Enjoy your own, personal eclipse, even if the one happening in the outside world seems a bit extra.
Let’s reconvene on the other side and compare notes. And please share any insights or predictions you have for the next few weeks in the comments below.
Until next time.
