New Moon in Capricorn -make a wish @tijanadraws

Greetings Astro-friends! The heavens are really sprinkling on the wow factor this week with the first New Moon of the year, (and the last of this lunar year of the Snake!) coincides with a planetary pile up positioning itself at the curtatin call of Capricorn and opening numbers of Aquarius.

This is a rare stellium-style event blows the starter’s whistle on the intense and profound changes we will undergo this year.

The symbolism of this passage from Capricorn to Aquarius signals a shift from established systems and structures (Earth) to bold, innovative, technologically advanced changes (Air).

On Sunday, 18th Jan the Sun and Moon will meet at the critical degree of 28° Capricorn which points to a crisis point or inciting incident that spins us out of status quo and into a vortex of change.

This gathering of the Old Gods will last for most of this week, 18th – 23rd Jan and involve the Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, and …let’s not forget Pluto hiding at the back. (Such a shy guy, till you get to know him!)

Check your chart to see what you have between 28 Capricorn and 5 degrees Aquarius and which houses this transit covers.

What does it all mean?

The Capricorn New Moon marks a focal point for setting new, long-term goals and projects coming to fruition over the next six months and beyond.

Don’t kick anything off just yet, wait for the moon to wax a bit first, but this Sunday is ideal for ideating, visioning, and meditation. Find stillness, go within and direct your internal compass towards your destiny!

Wintry planning session - artwork by @Tijanadraws

And while you might be better of planning all this in the ‘hygge’ comfort of your wintry hibernation zone, best of luck having a quiet one as we simultaneously navigate a heady Mercury and Mars conjunction on the very same day! (Who scheduled that one?!)

If two’s company, three’s a crowd, what’s four?

Yes that’s right, Sun, Moon, Mercury and Mars are all just vibin’ at 28 Capricorn or thereabouts.

It goes without saying (but say it I must) if any of you have planets or angles at 28 Capricorn, let me know in the comments – you will have a lot going on!

When the Sun and Moon meet they offer us new beginnings and inception points.

But Mercury the Messenger and Mars the God of War colliding can lead to shooting our mouths off, starting ill-advised fights or, on the plus side, finally expressing something that’s been really pissing us off. Get it off your chest why don’t you?!

Take care to tread carefully. Breathe, count to ten and take a time out if you need to.

@tijanadraws ‘The Lady of the Lake’ - serious Venus Pluto vibes!

The Underworld gets a glow up

A couple of days later on the 20th Venus sidles up to Pluto inviting us to deepen and intensify existing bonds, or perhaps press the red button on any superficial or stale relationships that simply won’t make the cut in this brand new chapter.

We will see issues around abuses of power, wealth and sex - guess which news story will be making headlines yet again?

Themes of emotional manipulation, obsessiveness and jealousy could also be bubbling up to the surface in our closest relationships.

Conversely it could be a great time for a long overdue, deep and meaningfuls. Perhaps broach it later in the week once that Mercury Mars contre-temps is ouf of the way, though.

Equally, creative projects that ignite our passions or healing past emotional trauma could be on the cards if we channel this evergy wisely.

The fact that all of the personal planets, will be following Venus’ advance party to Pluto’s Underworld means we will get a real flavour of what this monumental Pluro in Aquarius transit means. Pay attention to themes and events which come up this week as they may have a profound significance for the next seventeen years!

People in the News

Here are my predictions for a high profile, albeit random selection of people making waves in coming weeks.

Supreme Court Judge Clarence Thomas Ascendant and Moon are afflicted by the heady brew of planets, and birthday girl Giorgia Meloni and birthday boy Ben Shapiro will also get a boost of star wattage and attention, not necessarily favourable mind you. (Will Ben finally get the Shetland Pony he’s always dreamed of?)

If you know know, you know (you know?)

Sydney Sweeney is all over the place, Mars, Mercury, the Sun and Moon on her very own Moon – could a dream very personal to her be about to be realised? Her latest film The Housemaid has just become her most successful racking up over $200 million at the box office, so perhaps it already has?

Another sexy siren RFK Jr., (just kidding – I was not one of the 23 people who bought Olivia Nuzzi’s book, don’t worry) will have the same stellium affair on his very own Sun, Venus Mars stellium in late Capricorn. Jeez that’s a lot of planets jostling for position in his sixth house of health, work, and service. I mean…how much beef tallow can a man handle?! I guess we’re about to find out!

Speaking of beef tallow, Joe Rogan’s mid-heaven of career and reputation is spectacularly lit up by the Venus Pluto conjunction later in the week, which suggests any deep and intense Venusian events taking place will be brought to public attention. Might he be hosting a Venus Pluto type guest? Perhaps an interview with jailbird Ghislaine Maxwell whose Saturn in the 8th house of sex, death and secret stuff is also accented in the weeks planetary shenanigans? We can but (fever) dream!

There’s also a potentially a reckoning or the realisation of a goal for Barack Obama (Saturn) and a big dollop of surprise for Justin Bieber (Uranus) so keep an eye on those two.

And finally, slightly weird and niche prediction - because you may well have never heard of either of these people … but celebrity Royal couple Princess Martha Louise of Norway and her controversial husband Shaman Durek Verett (stars of Netflix series Rebel Royals - An Unlikely Love story) will almost certainly be centre stage.

The new moon, Mercury and Mars crash into his ascendant then pile on to Venus and Pluto on hers. What can it mean? A second series? Baby? Divorce? Meme coin? A Shaman ascends the Norwegian throne? I have no idea but watch this space.

Let’s get personal - what’s in it for you?
